PIPEWORK & SYSTEMS
Pipework & Systems Services
6Sigma will track and report performance to the client as per our benchmarks indicative for piping.
The work measurement process applicable to piping will measure the following elements:
- Removal of existing pipe
- Fit-up of new pipe
- Installation of:
- Elbows & bends
- Sleeves & collars
- Valves & flanges
- Completion of all welding
- Pressure testing as to pass or fail
- Commissioning of system as to operative or not
The units of measurement applicable to piping will be as follows:
- Removal & fit-up of existing pipe – linear metres
- Elbows, bends, sleeves, collars, valves and flanges – % fitted or not fitted
- Pressure testing – conforming with planned dates for completion
- Commissioning – complete or not complete
The work measurement methodology applicable to piping comprises the following steps:
- The final contract quantities, specifically including durations and costs, and associated detail must be understood as the foundation for the work measurement process.
- Measurement of the physical work on the project will take place twice daily – around 08h00 to determine night shift production and around 18h00 to determine day shift production. Adjustments will be made for work measured but which is then not accepted by QC.
- A daily visit will be made to the piping workshop around 13h00. Measurements will be logged on a spreadsheet dedicated to piping and properly referenced to the work area and/or grid plan and/or schedule reference. Adjustments will be made for work measured but which is then not accepted by QC.
- All measurements must be reconciled against project schedule at timenow and Variation Order Register and also reflect the following:
- Rate of production
- Troubleshooting issues
- Resource forecast especially labour
- Final QA documents
