Radio Operator
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced offshore radio operator to join our team at 6Sigma Marine (Pty) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining communication with the offshore drilling rig and support vessels. The radio operator should have experience in operating radio communication equipment and should be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and operate radio communication equipment to maintain communication with the offshore drilling rig and support vessels.
- Record and log all communication transmissions and maintain accurate records.
- Relay important messages, instructions, and safety alerts to the rig crew and support vessels.
- Follow established communication procedures and protocols to ensure safety and efficiency of offshore drilling operations.
- Participate in safety meetings and drills to promote a safe work environment.
- Ensure that all radio communication equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- South African permanent resident / citizen
- Relevant radio operator qualifications
- Relevant certifications, including:
- Trade qualifications
- OPITO Bosiet with CA EBS
- OGUK medical with more than 1-year validity
- Passport
- Yellow fever
- Covid vaccine
- Seaman book
