Chief Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced chief engineer to join our team at 6Sigma Marine (Pty) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment on offshore oil rigs. The offshore chief engineer should have experience in supervising engineering teams and maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment on offshore oil rigs, including engines, generators, pumps, and electrical systems.
- Develop and implement maintenance and repair schedules to ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working order.
- Supervise engineering teams and ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations.
- Manage inventory and ordering of parts and supplies required for maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure that all engineering work is performed in compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Participate in safety meetings and drills to promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repair activities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- South African permanent resident / citizen
- Relevant chief engineer qualifications
- Relevant certifications, including:
- Trade qualifications
- OPITO Bosiet with CA EBS
- OGUK medical with more than 1-year validity
- Passport
- Yellow fever
- Covid vaccine
- Seaman book
